Martha Alvarado, MPH, CIP, currently serves as the Director of the Army Human Research Protections Office (AHRPO) in the Office of the Surgeon General of the Army. Prior to entering federal service in 2016, she worked at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai's Institutional Review Board and was prior to that the Director of the Human Subjects Protections Office at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City for 13 years. Previous work experience also inlcudes serving as the regulatory coordinator for Beth Israel Medical Center's Department of Oncology and as a Clinical Trials Coordinator and Psychometrician at the Alzheimer's Disease Research Center at NYU Langone Health. She completed her Master's degree in Public Health at the Mailman School of Public Health of Columbia University. Ms. Alvarado has maintained her CIP certification since 2004.
