Dr. Cheri Hautala-Bateman serves as the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Human Subjects Protection Program Manager. She also serves as the program manager for the Strategic Partnership Projects at the Department of Energy/NNSA. She is responsible for overseeing interagency work and non-government sponsored work across the NNSA complex. She also assists the Assistant Deputy Administrator for Strategic Partnership Programs in working with the NNSA Defense Programs Science Council and coordinating technical research topics for study. Prior to assuming this role, she served as a senior test scientist at the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (now known as . She has also served as a senior scientist at the Remote Sensing Laboratory, Andrews AFB location, with a responsibility of supporting nuclear and radiological emergency response efforts, as well as managing a support program with three remote offices.
Dr. Hautala-Bateman graduated from the University of MN, Morris with a Bachelor of Arts degree in mathematics and physics. She earned her Ph.D. in nuclear physics from the Ohio University.
