Dr. Bill Yates is the Vice-Chancellor for Research Protections at the University of Pittsburgh. In that role, he is Institutional Official for the human and animal subjects research programs, and is also responsible for the University’s oversight of biosafety, stem cell research, radiation safety, research integrity, conflict of interest, and export control. He is also a professor in Pitt’s School of Medicine, and has maintained an NIH-funded research program for over 30 years. He is an active educator, and has won numerous teaching awards including Pitt’s Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Award. He was previously a member of the Board of Trustees for AAALAC International, and currently serves on the Boards for the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) and Americans for Medical Progress.
