Denice O’Connell, DVM, DACLAM, is the Director of Global Animal Welfare for AbbVie. She obtained her BS degree from Worcester Polytechnic institute and her veterinary degree from Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine. Her passion for science, medicine, and animal welfare drove her to a career in biomedical research, where she has enjoyed supporting the advancement of all three. In her current role, she works with AbbVie’s Comparative Medicine teams, scientists, and leadership to help assure that all AbbVie programs and external animal suppliers, contractors and collaborators meet the company’s very high expectations for animal welfare. She also enjoys life in New England with her husband,10-year old twins, German shepherd, family cat, and small flock of chickens.
