Rebecca D. Armstrong, DVM, PhD is the Director of Research Subject Protection, overseeing the IRB, IACUC and SCRO administrative offices and programs at the University of California, Berkeley. Becky recieved her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine in 1983 and her PhD in Adult, Continuing and Professional Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1998. While at UW-Madison, she became involved in a major NSF funded program on Women in Science and upon graduation, she transitioned to research development activities and then research compliance at Purdue University. In 2004 she assumed leadership of UC Berkeley's human research protection program and in 2010, the animal care and use program was added to her portfolio of responsibilities. Similarly, in July 2019 she assumed administrative leadership of UCB's Stem Cell Research Oversight (SCRO) Committee too.
