Jonathan Beever is Associate Professor of Ethics and Digital Culture in the Department of Philosophy and the multidisciplinary Texts & Technology Ph.D. program at the University of Central Florida. He is founding Director of the UCF Center for Ethics, and directs a graduate certificate program in Theoretical and Applied Ethics. Beever’s research specializes in interdisciplinary work at the intersections among environmental ethics and bioethics, emphasizing how technologies shape relationships. He is the editor of Philosophy, Film, and the Dark Side of Interdependence (Rowman & Littlefield 2020), co-author of Understanding Digital Ethics (Routledge 2019), co-editor of The Way of Nature and the Way of Grace: Philosophical Footholds on Terrence Malick’s The Tree of Life (Northwestern University Press 2016), and Perspectives in Bioethics, Science, and Public Policy (Purdue University Press 2012). He has published numerous articles and book chapters on a wide range of issues in and around ethics, and has received funding in support of his research from the National Science Foundation. Beever serves nationally as member of the Editorial Board of the Online Ethics Center, the Ethics Committee for American Society for Engineering Education, as Secretary for the International Association for Environmental Philosophy, and as an editorial advisory board member for the Journal of Philosophy and Medicine.
