Deborah Mittman, MPS, is Program Manager for Education and Quality Improvement in the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's Office of Research Compliance & Quality Improvement, where she has worked since 2016. From 1997 to 2016 she worked in human subjects protection at the US Department of Veterans Affairs, Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System and VA Central Office in Washington DC. The overarching goals of her work include the development and implementation of innovative strategies to improve human subjects protection in research, to help ensure adherence to governmental and institutional regulations, policies and ethical guidelines governing health research, and to develop and implement quality improvement and educational initiatives to support and promote research. She and her team recently launched a new initiative to incorporate patient perspectives in Cedars-Sinai's research policies and processes and is working with other research institutions to facilitate development and implementation of policies and practices for returning research results to study participants. Deborah is a member of AEREO: The Consortium to Advance Effective Research Oversight.
