Vickie L. Jarrell, M.S., Ph.D. is the Director, Animal Care and Use Program, Research Integrity Office, Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), Portland, Oregon. Dr. Jarrell directs the administration of the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees for the OHSU Central and Waterfront campuses and for the Oregon National Primate Research Center. She earned a Master of Sciences degree in animal sciences with an emphasis on immunogenetics, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in animal sciences focusing on reproductive physiology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She spent two years as a post-doctoral animal scientist at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Dr. Jarrell led the development and sustained accreditation of a land-grant, agricultural animal care and use program from 2002 to 2018. The program included agricultural animal production, food and fiber research, and biomedical research. With over 30 years of experience in research, teaching, and compliance administration, Dr. Jarrell serves as a member of the AAALAC, I., Council of Accreditation.
