Ilene Wilets a research ethicist with extensive experience within academic medicine. She is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Environmental Medicine and Public Health and Global Health and Health Systems Design at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She is also an IRB Chair with the Program for the Protection of Human Subjects, and on faculty with the Clarkson University-Mount Sinai Program in Bioethics.
Dr. Wilets is well versed on human subjects protection regulation and research ethics. Her long-standing interests involve informed consent, voluntariness, risk-benefit analysis and global health. She has been an active member of Public Responsiblity in Medicine and Research (PRIM&R) for approximatley 20 years.
Dr. Wilets earned her Master’s in Human Learning and Cognition (Psychology) from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her PhD in Measurement, Evaluation, and Applied Statistics (Psychology) from the Columbia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. She received a Certificate in Bioethics and Medical Humanities from the Montefiore-Einstein Center for Bioethics.
