Carrie Freed completed a Master’s in Lab Animal Science at Hahnemann University in 2000 and returned to Ohio to complete a DVM and lab animal residency at The Ohio State University (OSU) becoming an ACLAM diplomate in 2009. Dr. Freed currently serves as the Director of Quality Assurance for The Office of the Attending Veterinarian at OSU which oversees animal import/export, the animal health program and vendor surveillance. She also supports the animal care and use program through veterinary protocol review and as an alternate IACUC and IBC member. Through Dr. Freed’s academic appointment as a Professor in the Dept. Veterinary Preventive Medicine within the College of Veterinary Medicine she provides direct support to the Laboratory Animal Medicine Residency Program. In 2022, Dr. Freed will complete her service to The American Society of Laboratory Animal Practitioners (ASLAP) rotating off as past president. Dr. Freed has served AAALAC as an ad hoc specialist since 2018.
