Luke Gelinas joined Advarra IRB as a full-time Chairperson in 2017, where he is currently a Senior Chair Director who provides oversight of ethical and regulatory issues related to human participant protection. Prior to joining Adavrra, Luke was a Senior Researcher at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School and the Harvard Catalyst Fellow in Research Ethics. Luke earned his PhD in 2014 from the University of Toronto, where he was a graduate fellow at the University of Toronto’s Centre for Ethics; he also holds an MA in Religion summa cum laude from Yale Divinity School. Luke has also completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Bioethics at the National Institutes of Health and training in Clinical Ethics at Albany Medical College. Luke’s work in research ethics has been published in numerous leading academic journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Internal Medicine, Clinical Trials, and Hastings Center Report.
