Susan Briggs Watson, PhD is an associate director of bioethics at Eli Lilly and Company. She has worked in Lilly Bioethics for 11 years, developing company positions on bioethics topics, providing bioethics education and training for employees, and conducting internal bioethics consultations. Dr. Watson serves as a company subject matter expert for several bioethics topics including pediatric research, continued access to investigational medicines, scientific authorship, human biological samples, and employees as research participants. Dr. Watson has co-authored previous presentations on Lilly's bioethics activities at the 2014 American Academy of Pediatrics national conference, the 2015 American Society for Bioethics and Humanities annual meeting, and the 2016 and 2022 World Congress of Bioethics meetings. She also co-authored a 2015 article on Lilly's bioethics consultations in the journal AJOB: Empirical Bioethics.
Dr. Watson received a bachelor's degree in psychology from The University of Alabama, a master's degree in psychology from the University of Memphis, and a PhD in clinical rehabilitation psychology from Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis (IUPUI). She completed Georgetown University's Intensive Bioethics Course in 2012.
