Dr. Heather Sidener, DVM, DACLAM serves as the Unit Head for Clinical Medicine at the Oregon National Primate Research Center, which is a part of the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland, Oregon. She has been providing veterinary care for primates since 2005, originally working with a large colony of cynomolgus macaques at a CRO, a position she took after working in small animal private practice for 5 years and before moving to the ONPRC. She became an ACLAM Diplomate in 2017. She's served on IACUC committees since 2011, and has been managing departments and veterinary staff for most of her lab animal career. She functions as the primary veterinarian for animals in the Reproductive and Development Scientific Core, and works closely with many PIs across the various scientific divisions (Neurology, Cardiometabolic, Infectious Disease in addition to the Repro group) to develop their IACUC protocols and provide advice regarding animal care for both upcoming projects and ongoing research. Regulatory compliance and public outreach are two of her particular interests.
