Christopher S. Keator, PhD, has served as the Assistant Dean for Laboratory Animal Resources at WMU Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine (WMed) since April 2021 and as Chair of the WMed IACUC since 2016. He was recruited to WMed in 2014 to develop an endocrine-reproductive course for second-year medical students and holds an academic faculty appointment as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences. As IACUC Chair, he negotiated the Assurance with NIH OLAW (in 2016 and 2020) and led the WMed program to full accreditation with AAALAC (in 2019 and 2022). Chris joined the PRIMR IACUC Conference Planning Committee in 2022 and was also just recently appointed as an Ad hoc Consultant/Specialist with AAALAC International. He is a broadly trained reproductive physiologist and has conducted both basic and translational research with domestic livestock and lab animals, including rhesus macaques and immunodeficient mice. He earned his MS and PhD in Reproductive Physiology, Animal Sciences at the University of Connecticut and completed postdoctoral studies in the Division of Reproductive Sciences at the Oregon National Primate Research Center.
