Petrice Longenecker, PhD, CIP serves as the Human Protections Administrator (HPA) and Director of the Human Research Protections Program Office (HRPPO) at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS). Dr. Longenecker is a career Federal employee with subject matter expertise in evaluating the protections of human subjects in research. She is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) with degrees in human genetics (PhD) and bioethics (MA). Her prior work experience includes serving as the Senior Regulatory Affairs Officer at the Veterans Health Administration, Office of Research and Development; and as the Extramural Human Research Protections Officer and Coordinator for the Certificates of Confidentiality for the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Extramural Research. At the NIH, Dr. Longenecker served as the primary point of contact for all matters of human research protections for all of the funding institutes and centers. At USUHS, Dr. Longenecker is a major advocate for research and research in education. The HRPPO is the liaison between our Principal Investigators and the IRB.
